Neighborhood Event Permitting
Block Parties
Fill out the block party application if:
1. You are having an event on your block and you do not need to block off any intersections
2. You are planning on having less than 200 people at your event and you do not plan on SELLING food or alcohol at your event
Plan on submitting this application AT LEAST two months before the date of your block party and paying a $50 application fee.
Special Events
Fill out the special events application if you are planning a larger event. You should fill out this application if:
1. You want to block off more than one neighborhood block
2. You are holding an event in a city park or other public area
3. You are planning on having more than 200 people at the event, or,
4. You are planning on SELLING food or alcohol.
Use the special events application checklist to assist you in obtaining all of the required documents.
Plan on submitting this application AT LEAST two and half months before the date of your event and paying a $80 application fee. Expect to pay additional fees based on additional services that you need for your event.
Additional Documents:
For both types of events:
- Fill out a Noise Exemption Application if you are planning on playing amplified music
- Fill out a Temporary Food Service License Application if you are planning on serving food at your event
- Fill out an Application for City Services and Equipment if you would like to request additional equipment such as tents*, the mayors stage, or additional security. Equipment and services have additional fees.
* The city will provide up to 10 small tents free-of-charge when event organizers pick them up.
If you are serving alcohol at your special event you will need to develop a Security Plan. Work with your local police commander to develop a security plan.
